Why
Heinrich
Böll (1917-1985) is still considered one of the most important
writers and social critics of the Federal Republic of Germany. In
1972 he received the Nobel Prize for Literature. His
novels and stories have been translated into many languages,
including short stories and essays in Thai.
The name and works
of Heinrich Böll are a synonym for the political and social
involvement of the citizen, protection and development of his rights
and his democratic participation and commitment to civil courage and
truth. The foundation, named
after him, feels indebted to his courageous and uncompromising civil
spirit.
