Identity implies a face, a political voice, a belief and morality to maintain itself. Without equal access to the mass media the struggle for preservation of cultural diversity and varied identities is not possible.
Is it possible to have an identity in an age of globalisation
without
access to the mass media? We are living in an era where an individual or
a community needs media access to be seen or heard. But when people live
at the margin of our globalised community, where access to the media is
not available or is tightly controlled, they are not being seen or heard.
Identity implies a face, a political voice, a belief and morality to maintain
itself. If marginalised people and communities are not being seen or heard,
do they then have an identity? My work features the image of the voiceless.
